SWAN Receives More Than $44M From NIH to Understand the Impact of Aging on Women
The Study of Women’s Health Across the Nation (SWAN) and its seven designated research sites were awarded $44.4 million dollars over the next five years from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to investigate how menopause and midlife factors influence women’s health as they age.
Maria Mori Brooks, PhD and Alicia Colvin, PhD, faculty at the Epidemiology Data Center and the Department of Epidemiology, will direct the SWAN Coordinating Center which involves administrative and data coordination. The continued support of SWAN preserves the study’s ability to understand the implications for menopause and midlife features for future cognitive function, physical function, bone health, cardiovascular health, and overall well-being for women in later life.
