EDC faculty member co-authors study published in the JAMA network Open
EDC Faculty member Balasubramani Goundappa co-authored a study published in the JAMA network Open looking at SARS-CoV-2 incidence and transmission rates in child care centers and households.
A cohort study conducted between May 2021 and March 2022 has uncovered that the transmission rate of SARS-CoV-2 within Child Care Centers (CCCs) is low. Unlike other respiratory viruses, children attending CCCs did not significantly contribute to the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 within the centers or their households. These findings are a source of inspiration and suggest that current testing and exclusion recommendations for SARS-CoV-2 in CCCs should be aligned with those for other respiratory viruses that have similar morbidity and greater transmission to households. The primary trial results published in the JAMA Network Open (https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2810991). JAMA Network Open. DOI: 10.1001/jamanetworkopen.2023.39355
