EDC Faculty members co-author study published in the New England Journal of Medicine

The Myocardial Ischemia and Transfusion (MINT) trial found that a liberal blood transfusion strategy has the potential to reduce the risk of death and recurrent heart attacks without undue risk of harm, compared to a restrictive transfusion strategy, for heart attack patients who have anemia. Drs. Maria Mori Brooks and Marnie Bertolet, faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Epidemiology Data Center, directed the Data Coordinating Center for this NIH-sponsored international clinical trial.
